I am working on a new painting. I presume that
some of you already know this piece as a drawing, which I posted some time ago. However, I
never showed this underpainting. It
is a private commission titled “The Giants are coming” or “Svjatogor – The Protector of the
Mountains”
Oil on canvas, 70 X 100 cm.
Wow! incredible so far ... love seeing the in-progress photos

Jeff – so far good, indeed, for the main portion of the struggle is still ahead of me :-)
DeleteLooking really good! Can't wait to see this one develop. Why canvas this time? Bored with the board? Do you have a preference?
ReplyDelete- Mushindo
Mushindo - I chose for canvas this time because of the size of the painting. Canvas is lighter than a wooden board, which makes it physically easier for me to handle this piece. During the process of painting, I often turn the painting upside-down. Besides, I indeed got a little bored with the board :-)
DeleteVery nice work.
ReplyDeleteMain character's left knee is turned too much outward though.
Well, you are right...but nobody's perfect, especially the giants.
DeleteGood answer, I don't even know why I brought that up. :)
DeleteYour under paintings are beautiful, Mine are a mess. Of course I am not bad a cleaning up messes. At least on a painting.
ReplyDeleteBill – I think there are two types of artists: one who tries to create order and beauty out of chaos (mess); and one who came after the creation of order and beauty and tries to recreate them time and time again. Perhaps you belong to the first type, and I am closer to the second one.
